The film is the first step on a journey toward understanding the history of the Earth according to Genesis. Follow Del Tackett as he travels across the continent with over a dozen scientists and scholars to see fascinating new evidence for creation and a global flood.
Moreover, would the truth of an earth of recent creation and violent history need to be propped up on a tangled web of misrepresentations, half-truths, and concealed data Regardless of whether one thinks the earth to be young or old, Christians should insist on accurately and honestly presented data.
We long for the day when the church will realize that the gospel and the authority of Scripture do not need to be propped up with convoluted arguments and misrepresentations of the natural world. When nature is allowed to proclaim its message without preconceived notions of its history, it declares the glory of God just fine (Ps 19:1, Rom 1:20).
Is Genesis History attempts to deal with that one simple question: Is the biblical account of creation and flood meant to be understood as history Does it describe actual history And does the world give evidence of recent creation and catastrophic flood Host Del Tackett tackles these questions head-on and does so in a compelling way.
Next, Steve Austin, a geologist, walks with Tackett through the Grand Canyon, comparing the conventional paradigm and the historical Genesis paradigm when it comes to perceptions of time, especially as it pertains to a global flood. Paul Nelson, a computer engineer, shows that we must account for the orderliness of the world and its apparent engineering. Steve Boyd, a Hebraist at Hebrew Union College, then examines the Hebrew Scriptures to see whether the opening chapters of the Bible have the marks of history or some other genre.
Produced by Compass Cinema and hosted by Dr. Del Tackett, Is Genesis History feature film is the first step on a journey toward understanding the history of the Earth according to Genesis. Follow Del Tackett as he travels across the continent with over a dozen scientists and scholars to see fascinating new evidence for creation and a global flood.
Either way, a key point to remember for understanding world history is: in science, we can often trade intensity for time, and vice versa. Conversely, the error of evolutionary geology is decreeing that only present-day processes may be used to explain the past. In other words, they avoid the possibility that intense processes of short duration can better explain the evidence. Later on in the video, Ph.D. geologist Andrew Snelling explains:
Creation Ministries International (CMI) exists to support the effective proclamation of the Gospel by providing credible answers that affirm the reliability of the Bible, in particular its Genesis history.
Students, alumni and faculty also contribute to the growing body of scientific evidence regarding biological and geological history through publishing research backed up by both evidence and the biblical perspective.
The next part of each section of the course is intended to be presented as either one or two lectures on biblical background, theology, history, science, and practical application. The material is frequently presented in a question-and-answer format, although the questions are rhetorical. The teacher presents both questions and answers most of the time rather than expecting students to answer. Bible passages are interspersed throughout this section. This part of the lesson concludes with a Scripture passage followed by three to five questions that should be used for either discussion or written responses. Suggested answers are included immediately after the questions.
Is Genesis History For the vast majority of non-Fundamentalist Christians living in the 21st Century with the advantage of knowing about a massive corpus of historical, archaeological and scientific information, the answer is almost certainly a decided No. It is not accurate history in the modern sense of the word. Most simply stated, Genesis is theology. There is one God of the entire cosmos who is responsible for all Creation. However, to unpack this answer has many parts.
The book of Genesis includes some of the most foundational events in the history of the world. By the end of this study, you will know exactly what the Bible says about those events. Designed for use by groups, families, or individuals, each lesson contains five parts: Setup, Video, Conversation, Differing Views, and Personal Study (6 sessions of material). 120 page book. 47 minutes of video clips.
On what basis do you say that \"modern interpreters want to see the Bible as a scientific treatise\" I ask this because I certainly have not met that claim despite my extensive experience with \"modern interpreters\" including scientists who see Genesis as history. Seeing Genesis as history is a far cry from seeing the Bible as a \"scientific treatise.\"
The Bible does not claim to be a complete history of the world, but insofar that it does speak of historical events that we have not personally witnessed, we expect it to be accurate because God inspired the people who wrote it.
I believe . . . the history of this planet and life on it is, by principle, discoverable by scientific investigation. For the material, the picture that emerges is that of varying material and chemical processes gradually changing the surface of the earth and atmosphere.
Biological change, from evidence left by the fossil record, reveals not one but perhaps five devastating ecological events in the planet's history, each measured in millions of years ago. Each time, life experienced a resurgence of new life forms.
Theistic evolution is a way of acknowledging the Creator for this amazing display of creativity and intelligence. In general, it offers two or three major forms, including \"natural law\" theology which affirms that God works primarily through natural laws, and Intelligent Design which affirms that God works primarily by providing solutions to problems in the development of new species. Both accept the outline of the scientific account of the history of life, and differ in where they see God operative, and in their political activity. I am more comfortable with the natural law version. 59ce067264
